Thank you as always to the helpful Tony Gregory and his fantastic archive of photos. He was kind enough to send us this amazing picture of Commercial Wharf in the 1950's
This is the view across to Manley Paints and Commercial Wharf. If you look carefully you can see all the ubiquitous concrete fenceposts piled up. Is that Mr Penny at work in the photo making all the posts for us to battle with 70 years later?
Also it is interesting to see how much lower the level of the island is in this photo. Its current height is made up of .... yes you guessed it concrete posts and waste, leave mould and dredgings.
